JUAN LÓPEZ-BELMONTE, CHAIRMAN OF THE MADRID OFFICIAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, INDUSTRY AND SERVICES
Close to 500 events in 2015 that gave 25,000 exhibiting companies visibility and space confirm IFEMA - Feria de Madrid for another year as Spain’s most important forum for our region’s business development. They also endorse the Institution as a cornerstone for the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid, with which it shares the unwavering commitment to boost the region’s economy. In an increasingly more global and interconnected world, internationalisation is vital in the growth strategy of companies. Accordingly, we at IFEMA and the Chamber of Madrid work together on international promotion, bearing the standard for presentations in numerous countries, offering support in destinations that are important for our companies’ expansion, driving foreign promotional activities and ensuring an on-the-spot offer of services tailored to the companies’ needs. The aim: to facilitate and energise the continuous generation of business. The mission of the two institutions coincides in the creation of spaces for entrepreneurial and sectoral collaboration that encourage commercial exchange, knowledge transfer and professional contacts. Feria de Madrid is an emblematic space where over 2.7 million visitors attend from all around the world to discover the latest trends, innovation and the development of the different sectors of activity.
This year sees the start of a new era for IFEMA, whose Statutes have been updated to broaden its corporate purposes, expanding its possibilities to all those actions that foster Madrid’s economic activity. IFEMA also has a new Chairman, Clemente González Soler, whose successful professional career augurs a promising future for the entity. As the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, I face the exciting challenge, and commitment, of helping the hundred-year-old institution I represent to move forward in the process of change and adaptation in which it is immersed and to ensure that it continues to give Madrid’s companies the best advice and the instruments they need to reach as far as they wish. No-one should doubt that IFEMA, of which the Chamber was the co-founder and driving force, will be the ideal travelling companion on this journey.
