MOTORTEC CHILE 2022: the first automotive aftermarket fair in Latin America kicks off
From October 6 to 8, at the Espacio Riesco Events and Convention Center in Santiago de Chile
Today the first international automotive after-sales fair, MOTORTEC CHILE, co-organized by IFEMA MADRID and Espacio Riesco, was inaugurated at the Espacio Riesco Events and Conventions Center. The event, which transfers the successful model of MOTORTEC MADRID to Latin America, which successfully completed its sixteenth edition last April, will bring together until October 8, the offer of more than 80 brands, from 10 countries, and expects to receive more than 3,000 professionals.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Regional Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Roberto Santa Cruz; the General Manager of Espacio Riesco, Oriol Sancho Casadesús; the Director of International Business of IFEMA MADRID, Jaime de la Figuera and the President of the Chilean Chamber of Commerce for Spare Parts and Accessories, CAREP, Hernán Quezada, as well as various association managers.
“The evolution towards electromobility and what the mechanical workshop of the future will be like” is one of the topics that will be analyzed in the MOTORTEC CHILE technical conferences. The future of the workshops is key, considering that the number of companies dedicated to the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles in Chile is 18,789. It is estimated that each workshop receives approximately 300 vehicles per year and that an average of 1.6 people work per workshop. The automotive components industry represents for Chile a turnover of more than 1,200 million dollars a year, and employs 150,000 people.
Katherine Becker, Manager of MOTORTEC CHILE, affirmed that “this fair is sponsored by the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications and the Chilean Chamber of Spare Parts and Accessories, CAREP A.G.; a key market for our country considering that Chile is one of the main buyers of spare parts in the world and today must supply 87 brands with representation in the country and 4,900 car models”.
For his part, the International Director of IFEMA MADRID, Jaime de la Figuera, recalled the success of the latest edition -the sixteenth- of MOTORTEC MADRID, which closed last April with more than 52,000 professional visitors, 500 exhibitors and more than 1,200 brands, confirming once again as the reference Fair for this industry, in southern Europe. “With this first edition of MOTORTEC CHILE, we transfer our successful model to Latin America,” he said.
For the National Chamber of Commerce of Automotive Parts and Accessories, CAREP AG, “the possibility of opening markets that benefit the national economy is very important, since they promote the development of our sector, so we are very happy that MOTORTEC MADRID has chosen to Chile as the neuralgic axis of its position in the Southern Cone”, indicated its President Hernán Quezada.
“We have worked intensely to take care of and position the prestige of our importers and distributors worldwide and at the same time we are aware of the changes that we must face, not only in the commercial world, but also in the face of the different challenges that the world imposes on us. caring for the environment and the difficult water scenario that our country suffers, for example, versus the explosive sale of combustion vehicles that keep their figures on the rise and where, still timidly, interest in hybrid and electric vehicles is revealed,” he said. the trade union representative of CAREP AG.
The main sectorial associations of Latin America joined the inauguration, including the Association of the Automotive Sector and its Parties, ASOPARTES (Colombia); AEAD (Ecuador); the National Association of Land Freight Transport, ANATEC (Peru); the Motor Carrier Chamber (Argentina); the Maquila Chamber (Paraguay), and the National Chamber of Auto Parts Commerce, CANIDRA (Venezuela).
The Fair also has the participation of the cargo and passenger transport unions of Chile: the National Confederation of Truck Owners; the National Confederation of Cargo Transportation, CHILETRANSPORTE; ABI-AG Association of Interprovincial, International and Industrial Buses; the National Federation of Rural, Interprovincial, International and Private Passenger Transport Buses, FENABUS, and the Confederation of Collective Taxis of Chile CONATACOCH.
