SRR 2022 to Host the European Recycling Conference

The 8th International Trade Fair for Recovery and Recycling, SRR 2022, will host the European Recycling Conference (ERC) on 15th June 2022. This international event will take place during the Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID at its Exhibition Centre, from 14th to 16th June and will bring together the leading players in the recycling sector. The European Recycling Conference will address key market trends and propose new action plans. It is organised by the European Recycling Industries Confederation (EuRIC) in partnership with the Spanish Federation of Recovery and Recycling (FER), the promoter of the SRR Fair. 

It will be southern Europe’s leading trade fair for the recycling industry. It will be the setting for one of the most important international congresses on recycling. The event will also coincide with FER’s 19th National Recovery & Recycling Congress, held biannually during SRR.

Olivier François, President of EURIC, Ion Olaeta, President of the FER, and Alicia García-Franco, General Director of the FER, will kick off the ERC International Congress.

The first keynote will address key market trends and regulatory risks. It will be given by Murat Bayram, Manager of European Metal Recycling Limited. This will be followed by a discussion on the current state of free and fair trade in raw materials derived from recycling, with the participation of EUROMETREC, BIR, ISRI and ERPA. The following sessions will address the climate benefits of steel recycling and the near future of the end-of-waste status.

Later, Enrique Garcia John (Policy Officer at the European Commission - Directorate-General for Environment) will discuss the implementation of a new circular economy Action Plan. Then, CIMPA, the European Horizon 2020 project, will be discussed with the participation of EVERSIA, AIMPLAS, PAPREC and EuRIC.

To close, Murat Eryilmaz, CEO of Steelorbis, will give an expert talk on what to expect from steel and raw materials trade in times of uncertainty.

The International Recovery & Recycling Fair SRR is part of the fourth ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY FORUM (FSMS) which takes place in parallel with the 21st International Urbanism & Environment Fair (TECMA) and the 5th MADRID CITIES FORUM. It will also coincide for the first time with GENERA, the Energy & Environment Fair.

In addition to the face-to-face exhibition, FSMS 2022 will host, as usual, an extensive programme of congresses, assemblies, forums, awards and other professional meetings. As well as the in-person fairs, IFEMA’s new digital platform LIVE CONNECT will address a wider audience, with more customers and markets, to generate quality B2B meetings.
