The Madrid City Council has announced grants aimed at adapting homes and premises for people (owners or tenants) with disabilities or rare diseases. Among the many actions envisaged in the subsidies are the adaptation of doors and corridors, the incorporation of automatic doors, card-operated opening systems, security and alarm systems, etc. Meanwhile, Catalonia has announced grants for owners' associations in neighbourhoods administered by the Housing Agency, which include refurbishment work for energy efficiency and sustainability, as well as work to improve conservation, security and accessibility.
The Regional Government of Valencia has approved the granting of subsidies to improve accessibility to housing for 2023, whose actions include the installation of automatic door-opening systems incorporating motorised mechanisms or other accessibility devices; the integration by means of a single identification mechanism (smartphone, cameras, screens or other technological devices) of opening and access control systems, etc. Meanwhile, the Region of Murcia will subsidise systems that improve visual and auditory communication, vibro-tactile signage to enable orientation inside the home and in common areas of the building, and the installation of home automation and other technological advances that help to promote autonomy.
Canary Islands and Castilla-La Mancha
Among the aid being offered by various Spanish administrations is also that of the Canary Islands Housing Institute, which has approved a new call for subsidies for 2023 aimed at carrying out works to improve accessibility, including the installation of automatisms for the opening of doors incorporating motorised mechanisms or other accessibility devices. Castilla-La Mancha has also approved a budget increase for improving accessibility, whose eligible actions include the installation of automatic door openers, cranes and video door entry systems that provide visual and auditory information.
