How a Large Door Is Made
Some customers need special locking solutions, suitable for large spaces and with particular features. This is what was needed at the Jarama Racetrack in Madrid, where Upama and its distributor Cypsa have installed different types of automatic door systems at the project executed by Spanish Royal Automobile Club (RACE) through the construction company Lantania. How The Doors Were Made
Upama designs and manufactures each system to order, to suit the features required for each application. The company explains, “This is central to how we work: we dedicate to each door as much time as it needs, regardless of size and performance.” And that’s no small task, as the projects are technically complex. They have supplied and installed systems 11.5 metres wide by 5.5 high, constructed from Upama’s popular UP111 model aluminium slat —robust, light and flexible— and large sectional door systems 5.5 metres wide and 5.5 high.
The project required fifteen automatic doors designed to make the best use of the spaces, partly on the outside, and mostly facing inside. This meant combining different door types to produce a set with different heights and widths, with finishes carefully-designed and manufactured, carefully installed.
Upama explains that all this has been a major technical challenge from design engineering up to completion. The challenges have been in logistics (experience and technical capacity for manufacturing and handling components), in production (processes with special requirements for manufacturing highly complex components), coating (a continuous process for manufacturing profiles up to 13.7 metres long to the highest quality standards) and certifications (for each door supplied and installed, covering the quality of materials, processes and installation).
