AECIM promotes safety and security at the gates of metal companies.
Gates are a key piece of infrastructure in many businesses and workplaces, so it is important to ensure that they meet the health and safety requirements for workers. The Madrid Association of Metal Companies (AECIM) has launched a programme of free technical advice to improve safety conditions of gates at 200 metal company workplaces in the Madrid Community.
Hazards in the workplace include, but not limited to, trapping, electrical hazards, being struck by falling objects, overexertion, being run over by vehicles and being struck by moving objects. To mitigate these risks, there is legislation that sets out minimum safety and health requirements for workers, including an evaluation of the structural safety of gates in metal sector workplaces.
For this reason, the Madrid Association of Metal Companies (AECIM) has launched a programme of free technical advice to improve safety conditions at 200 metal sector workplace gates within the framework of the 6th Master Plan for Occupational Risk Prevention of the Community of Madrid. This technical advisory service involves providing guidance to the centre on meeting the requirements and fulfilling the conditions for metal gates and installations in compliance with current regulations.
Risk assessment
A comprehensive document will be compiled to cover all aspects of gate maintenance and risk assessment, including gate usage, electrical installation, motorisation, mechanical components, and required documentation such as CE marking, user manual, maintenance book, declaration of conformity, risk assessment, owner, holder, or user responsibility, and maintenance checks.
A confidential report will be put together for the participating company. It will identify any potential issues, specify the necessary security measures, recommend areas for improvement, and outline specific corrective actions to be taken.
