The Regional Government of Castilla y León stresses the importance of door and gate inspections
At a conference held in Ávila, representatives of the Industrial Regulation and Safety Service of the Regional Government of Castilla y León stressed the importance of raising awareness of the risks of doors and gates that do not have CE marking or are not properly maintained in terms of safety at work, as well as prevention and protection for workers. The meeting was also attended by the President of FIMPA.
The Regional Government of Castilla y León, through the Territorial Labour Office, and with the collaboration of the National Federation of Manufacturers, Installers and Maintainers of Automatic Doors (FIMPA), organised a Technical Conference with the aim of raising awareness of the risks of doors and gates that do not have CE Marking or are not properly maintained in terms of safety at work, as well as prevention and protection for workers.
The conference was inaugurated by Fernando de la Parte, General Manager of Labour and Occupational Risk Prevention; Francisco Javier Muñoz, Head of the Avila Territorial Labour Office; and José Francisco Hernández, Territorial Delegate of the Regional Government of Castilla y León in Avila.
Fernando Romanos Marín, Technician of the Regulation and Industrial Safety Service of the Directorate General of Industry of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, explained that "before marketing, manufacturers are obliged to affix the CE marking". He explained that "the CE marking affixed to a product represents and implies that the product complies with the essential requirements of all the EU provisions that apply to it, and that the conformity assessment procedure required by these provisions has been carried out".
Juan Ramírez Sánchez, President of the National Federation of Manufacturers, Installers and Maintainers of Automatic Doors (FIMPA) spoke about the specific requirements for the installation of doors and gates, as well as their use, maintenance and modification. Among other issues, he explained the technical documents necessary for the owner: "CE marking and door plate; the main safety requirements for each type of door and adaptation measures; and the obligatory nature of door maintenance".
Meanwhile, Miguel Ángel Serna García, Head of the risk prevention and training section of the Avila O.T.T., focused his speech on the campaign to inspect doors and gates, and on companies' obligations.
