The new challenges of fire protection
Fire protection is facing new challenges such as higher numbers of victims in accidents in residential fires and increased risk in hospitality and entertainment premises, so heard the latest edition of the Dia del Foc fire safety conference, organised by Tecnifuego; Victor Molinet, head of the Regulatory and Performance Unit at Barcelona City Council; Carles Noguera, head of the Fire Prevention Service of the Regional Government of Catalonia; and Maria Eugenia Gil, head of the Facilities Safety Service of the same institution.
Among other topics covered throughout the day, experts discussed the new fire protection landscape and analysed the responses offered so far by the industry. Victor Molinet, from Barcelona City Council, as well as Carles Noguera and Eugenia Gil from the Regional Government of Catalonia, recalled how "we face new challenges to tackle, there are more victims of fires at homes, we detect new risks in hospitality and entertainment premises".
It was made clear that the responsibility for safety also lies with people. “Citizens, owners of premises and industrial managers must be aware of their responsibility when it comes to fire safety and certain basic preventive measures,” commented Victor Molinet.
The 17th edition of the Dia del Foc, organised by TECNIFUEGO, the Spanish Association of Fire Protection Companies, was held in Barcelona and was attended by many professionals interested in the latest developments and trends in fire safety and security.
