TECNIFUEGO draws attention to fire protection during the health crisis
TECNIFUEGO president, Adrián Gómez, highlighted the role of fire protection as an integral part of health and safety, during the last Ordinary General Assembly of the Association, and confirmed that “we maintained activity with the same levels of stringency and excellence throughout the health crisis”.
TECNIFUEGO, the Spanish Association of Societies for Fire Protection, held its Ordinary General Assembly and the first TECNIFUEGO 2022 Awards Ceremony. During the assembly, the president of the Association, Adrián Gómez, highlighted the role of fire protection as an integral part of health and safety: “We maintained activity with the same levels of stringency and excellence throughout the health crisis In 2021, fire protection had a clear goal: to guarantee people’s safety and wellbeing.
The president reviewed the challenges and achievements of the Association and the sector in general in a year in which uncertainty has become a governing factor in all possible actions and scenarios.
Adrián Gómez also went over the need to reflect on the role of research and a greater investment in technological development and innovation. In the field of associations, he expressed his pride in "presiding over an organisation which, in times of pandemic, has been able to adapt to new challenges and realities".
Activities and achievements
Marta Peraza, Secretary General of TECNIFUEGO, then presented the Activities Report 2021 and looked at the achievements in the technical area, from the number of meetings held to documents produced by the various committees, including the work of the CTN-23 fire protection standardisation committee, for which TECNIFUEGO holds the secretariat: “We held 244 work meetings and presented 33 UNE Safety rules for fires published in 2021”.
One of the milestones of the past year was the efforts of TECNIFUEGO, APICI and CEPREVEN to solve the serious problem that had arisen in the market due to the paralysis of important installations equipped with ESFR sprinklers: “The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism accepted the Principle of Mutual Recognition contained within the framework of the R.D. 513/2017 (RIPCI) and (EU) Guidelines.
Peraza also put forward the projects for 2022, highlighting the award of the TECHNIFUEGO 2022 Awards which recognise the professional careers and businesses which have placed value on fire protection. As well as the traditional Fire Days (Bermeo, Madrid and Barcelona), there was a round table for detection and conferences on fighting forest fires which were organised in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment
