Manuel Sánchez (AES): Specialisation and retraining are essential in the security sector
Manuel Sánchez Gómez-Merelo, a member of the board of directors of AES (Spanish Association of Security Companies) tells us that “specialisation and retraining are vital for the security sector.” What's more, according to this expert, training should especially focus on “physical and electronic security, cybersecurity and critical and strategic infrastructures.”
Manuel Sánchez, who is also the chairmanof Estudios Técnicos (GET) and the Director of Critical Infrastructure Protection Programs at the General Gutiérrez Mellado University Institute IUGM-UNED, points out that “basic and specialised training in all security areas (physical, electronic, cybersecurity etc.) and at all levels (management, supervision, operations, installation etc.) is essential and requires particular attention, retraining and specialisation.”
In this regard, the member of the AES board of directors states that "the development, establishment, recognition and institutional regulation of Vocational Training (VT), as well as the different higher specialisation levels (degree, postgraduate, basic etc.) for all areas of activity and regulatory requirements (regulations and legislation) are particularly important." For the sake of regulatory and legislative compliance, "they must be developed and elaborated on especially in the fields of physical and electronic security, cybersecurity and, at a sectoral level, in terms of critical and strategic infrastructures."
Integrated security
In his opinion, "it is also important and fundamental to develop specialised training programmes from a comprehensive and integrated security perspective or approach.” In the same way, "strategies and solutions must be proposed for dual training (training + internships) at all levels to facilitate the special demand, present and future, of some areas of security such as electronics, cybersecurity etc."
