Meat Attraction 2023 sets a record number of participants and consolidates its position as a fundamental tool for the commercialisation of the Meat Industry
Meat Attraction 2023, organised by IFEMA MADRID and ANICE , held its 5th edition from 6 to 8 March, and has broken its record for the number of professionals taking part , with a total of 14,213 from 66 countries. The Fair is confirmed as a fundamental instrument for the internationalisation of the industry, a meeting point for all professionals as well as a framework for innovation in the meat industry.
All this thanks to the industry's commitment to being present at the only vertical trade fair of this important industry in southern Europe, which has been particularly notable for the quality of the visitors. With more than 300 exhibitors, brands and companies represented, this monographic meeting for the meat industry representing its entire value chain has established itself as the largest business platform.
On this occasion, the Product area registered the segment with the highest representation, with 53% of the offer, although also worth noting in this edition is the notable increase in the Related Industry area, which represented 47% of the fair.
The international scope of Meat Attraction has been one of the most outstanding parameters of this event, which has attracted the meat industry's major international importers and traders. Of the total number of visitors, the international segment accounts for more than 12%. The largest numbers came from Europe, especially from Portugal, Italy, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Greece. The participation of professionals from Asia has grown significantly, mainly from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore and the Philippines. The attendance of Latin American visitors was also important, with those from Mexico, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador.
In this line, what is worth highlighting is Meat Attraction's commitment to attracting large importers of meat products, for which it has made a significant investment in its guest programme, with the presence of 100 guest international professional buyers .
Similarly, Meat Attraction, with the collaboration of ICEX trade offices around the world, has hosted around 700 appointments at B2Meat meetings. A total of 45 buying companies from 17 countries took part in these meetings with 48 exporters, which were B2B monographic meetings by product category.
For the second year, Meat Attraction, with the collaboration of Educarne, has once again incorporated The Butcher's Shop with very good results. The exhibition area of solutions and novelties at the service of the specialisation of butchers and charcutiers was attended by the renowned French butcher Mickaël Chabanon, as well as the Mallorcan master charcutier Xesc Reina. Verónica Escobar, from Carnes Viver (Valencia), won the title for "Best Young Butcher 2023". And Francisco Javier Caballero, with his "La Más Murciana” hamburger, by Súper Cresta Butcher-Charcutier (Los Garres, Murcia), was the winner of the 2023 Best Artisan Burger Competition.
In parallel to the trade show, Meat Attraction also hosted an extensive programme of technical conferences and activities, offering professionals a space for debate and knowledge exchange. Some of the highlights included #DistriMeat, which analysed the distribution of meat and meat products in Spain in today's society, as well as the MeaTIC Conference, which focused on robotics, sustainability and cost savings in the meat industry, and the IV Meeting of Women in the Meat Industry.
Once again this year, Meat Attraction has had the support of the Meat and Health platform in its work to inform about the properties, values and nutritional qualities of meat and meat products.
ANICE General Secretary Miguel Huerta said that "we have reason to be happy and proud because, despite the difficulties the industry is going through, it has shown all its great strengths, highlighting our image, that of its workers and that of our meats, thanks to Meat Attraction's capacity to amplify the visibility of our companies and their products, reaching an important and varied audience".
On the other hand, and in relation to IFEMA MADRID's commitment to sustainability, Meat Attraction facilitated the collection of product from exhibitors for the Madrid Food Bank, which managed to collect more than 350 kilos for charity use.
The next edition of Meat Attraction will be held in March 2025, thus taking on a two-year frequency and deepening its strong support to the strategic needs of the production and marketing industries of meat and meat products as well as other related industries.
