• The designer from Barcelona has received the National Fashion Design Prize from the Spanish Ministry of Culture • The presentation of the Spring/Summer 24 collections will take place from 13 to 17 September 2023
Teresa Helbig, the Catalan designer, has confirmed that she will be taking part in the next edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the 78th edition, no less, organised by IFEMA MADRID, from 13 to 17 September in pavilion 14 of the Recinto Ferial.
Recently awarded the National Fashion Design Award by the Spanish Ministry of Culture for her drive, her innovation and the artistic quality of her work, Teresa Helbig will present her latest designs at the country's leading platform for fashion designers, where she made her debut in 2010.
Teresa Helbig will present her new Spring Summer 24 collection on Friday 15 September on the Mercedes-Benz catwalk, in Hall 14.1 of the Recinto Ferial de IFEMA MADRID, where she will showcase one of the most eagerly awaited presentations, immersing the public once again in her Helbig universe. We asked her to tell us where she finds her inspiration:
“All of a sudden I felt it, just like that.
I was sitting on the terrace of my room, perched on a wooden and raffia chair, gazing at the Hotel de Ville, my eyes burning, my nails gnawed to the quick and my expensive hairdo in a mess.
I smoked a lot that afternoon.
I was wearing a gauzy, ruffled dress with embroidered trims. Extremely delicate.
I went to my mother's room and “borrowed” some jewellery and clothes. I swear that my intention was to give it all back to her.
I ended up on a train, and then another train, and then a boat, and then another train, until I'd made it all the way from Paris to Texas.
And, just like Newton and his apple, just like that, I became unstoppable.”
