The 74th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid is just a week away. The event, organized by IFEMA MADRID with the support of the Madrid City Council, from September 16 to 19 in Pavilion 14.1 of the Exhibition Center, will present a program in which the presence and the high level of representativeness of the runway shows will prevail, which will place Madrid as the epicenter of fashion.

The aforementioned was announced at the official press conference held at the Condeduque Contemporary Culture Center, on the occasion of the presentation of the great fashion week in Madrid, which was attended by Begoña Villacís, Deputy Mayor of Madrid; Miguel Ángel Redondo, Delegate of the Government Area of Economy, Innovation and Employment; Ángel Asensio, president of Moda España and president of the Governing Board of IFEMA MADRID; Eduardo López-Puertas, general director of IFEMA MADRID; Nuria de Miguel, director of MBFWMadrid; Modesto Lomba, president of ACME and Pepa Bueno, executive director of ACME.

The return of big names

One of the great novelties of this edition is the return to the runway of the renowned designers of the national scene such as: Duarte, Duyos, Malne, Marcos Luengo, Pertegaz, Roberto Torretta and Teresa Helbig, along with other names that had attended recent editions. In total, 25 will present their runway shows in Pavilion 14.1 of IFEMA MADRID, of which 17 are veterans as well as 8 newcomers participating in the Allianz EGO platform of young creators.  They will be joined by the 12 designers participating in the OFF Program, which will take place in different locations in the city of Madrid.

An amazing calendar of events for Spain's major designer fashion event

Two big names will mark the opening and closing of the program of established designers. So this edition will open on Thursday with the runway show of Andrés Sardá, closing on Saturday with Marcos Luengo. On Sunday it will be the turn of the young designers of the Allianz EGO platform and the presentation of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent award.

The entire calendar of runway shows is available at the following link link.

Awards for the development of young creators at MBFWMadrid

Allianz EGO Confidence in Fashion has been established following the arrival of Allianz as a sponsor of the runway for young designers in the last edition, an award aimed at designers of the Allianz EGO Showroom for the creative and business development of their brands, and which will allow the selected winning designer to develop their collection for presentation at the next edition of the Allianz EGO runway, as well as receive professional advice for six months.

Big news for the 74th edition of MBFWMadrid

The great fashion platform in Spain maintains its commitment to digitization, holding one more edition in hybrid format, with a greater number of face-to-face runway shows, as well as digital content to be offered through its digital platform.

In addition, new digital tools will be incorporated for the development of the on-site fashion shows, such as a screen of more than 40m2 where the collections will be reproduced in video format and complement the staging of all the collections.

For this event, presented as the resurgence of fashion in our country, the capacity has been increased to 42%, also allowing the return of the public to Cibelespacio and the Allianz EGO Showroom.

The development of sustainability is also one of the bets of the 74th edition of MBFWMadrid. The runway show has minimized the use of paper in the event, taking advantage of recyclable materials. In addition, the participating designers will present collections that have been produced, to a large extent, with natural fabrics or from recycled materials, in local workshops, with local labor and the avoidance of mass production.

Also, with the focus on boosting the fashion business, as in previous editions, MBFWMadrid will count on the attendance of national buyers at the runway shows. In terms of the internationalization of the runway show, an interesting collaboration agreement has been reached with the MBFWBerlin runway show.

Knowledge exchange at the MBFWMadrid Forum

This new forum for professional meetings will be presented at the 74th edition of MBFWMadrid and will host several activities that will focus on sustainability. These will be the presentation of the Report on Social Transformation in the Textile Sector prepared by WOMEN ACTION SUSTAINABILITY (WAS) and the KPMG consulting firm; the presentation of the S4FASHION project, a European program for the development of the companies of 25 fashion creators in collaboration with the European Institute of Design (IED Madrid), and Smart Green Industry, an initiative led by the University of Utrecht and the Laudes Foundation.

On the other hand, this forum will also host the "Present and Future Meeting on Designer Fashion in Spain", an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture in which the current situation of the fashion sector and designers will be discussed.

MBFWMadrid is sponsored by major leading brands

For this new edition, 16 sponsors have once again shown their commitment to the fashion industry and their support for MBFWMadrid. Thus, Mercedes-Benz, L'Oréal Paris and Inditex are maintaining their participation as main sponsors; Allianz, Iberia and MÓ de Multiópticas as sponsors; and Amazon Fashion, Leica, Klarna, the ESNE university school, GHD, Solán de Cabras, La Prohibida, Mar de Frades, Garmin and Unisa as collaborators. In addition, MBFWMADRID is incorporating ¡HOLA! TV as an International Media Partner.

IFEMA MADRID concentrates the largest convergence of fashion and lifestyle events

During the weekend of September 17-19, the 74th edition of MBFWMadrid will coincide with the celebration of the MOMAD, Intergift, Bisutex and MadridJoya fairs. This coincidence will provide synergies between professionals from all sectors represented at these events at a key moment for economic recovery.

Important events will converge in the city of Madrid during the next week, among them the MBFWMadrid runway show. In addition, numerous events will be held as part of the Madrid Capital of Fashion initiative, promoted by the Madrid City Council, through Madrid es Moda, organized by the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME).
