The Return of a Star: Mercedes-Benz's showcase pays homage to the vibrant 1980s

To commemorate its 80th edition, Mercedes-Benz will bring the essence of the 1980s to Cibelespacio. The stand, an essential meeting point for fashion enthusiasts, will take a nostalgic journey back to the 1980s, featuring a remarkable centrepiece: one of its mythical SL convertibles, which debuted alongside the inaugural catwalk show in 1985.

For the past 70 years, the initials SL have stood as a globally recognised emblem, representing a unique tradition of Mercedes-Benz sports cars. Originating from the German words "sportlich" and "leicht," which mean sporty and light, this term highlights the compact design and nimble character of these models, crafted for drivers who want exclusivity and athleticism. Through various iterations like the one showcased at the stand, the star brand once again highlights its dedication to design, innovation, comfort, and meticulous attention to detail. In addition to the opportunity to admire the original vehicle that was launched almost 40 years ago, the Mercedes-Benz space will host an interactive exhibition that complements this tribute to the 80th edition. The exhibition will showcase images of its most iconic convertible models alongside the standout looks and catwalk shows by renowned brands that have marked the history of MBFWMadrid, including Loewe, David Delfín, and Agatha Ruíz de la Prada, spanning from 1985 to the present day.

On the other hand, those who visit the booth will have the opportunity to watch the shows live from the lounge, ensuring they don’t miss any of the highlights of what is sure to be the event of the season. This year, to enhance the experience, the venue will feature an exclusive official Mercedes-Benz boutique, ensuring that visitors to Cibelespacio leave with a memorable keepsake from this extraordinary edition.
