MBFWMadrid announcers the lineup of designers for the first day of its 80th edition
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Acromatyx, Simorra, Odette Álvarez, De La Cierva and Nicolás, Claro Couture and Pedro del Hierro are the seven names that will walk the catwalk on Thursday, 12 September
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid is counting down to its 90th edition, with a first day packed with spectacular collections courtesy of major brands faithful to the event, which will be joined by fascinating proposals that are stirring up great expectations.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada will give the day and the latest edition of MBFWM a brilliant start. The flamboyant designer who is recognisable the world over for her vivid, highly original creations will flood the MBFWMadrid catwalk with colour during her 79th appearance at the event, making her the most veteran designer at the show.
In contrast, Acromatyx participated for the first time in February 2024 on the main catwalk and will be back with a major statement of intent with its 006 Modern Poetry Spring 25 collection. With a minimalist and delicate aura, the interior of the garments - seams, darts, edges and linings - are displayed on the outside of inside out and reversible garments.
Next up will be Simorra, a firm that debuted in September of 2023 and will now show for the third time. The firm always endeavours to evoke the origin of its creations and often features the Mediterranean in its collections.
It will be followed by the Cantabrian firm Odette Álvarez, which will show for the eighth time at MBFWMadrid. INFINITA is the title of its summer 2025 collection, an ode to the landscapes of its region whose beaches are strung along a coastline of rugged cliffs and peaceful coves, and imposing mountains, where the cobbled streets of yesteryear are lined with architectural treasures and imposing, stately mansions.
Now it's time for the long-awaited debut of De la Cierva y Nicolás. This Murcia-based firm will take MBFWMadrid by storm after touring the world's ready-to-wear catwalks and shows. The brand is presenting its LACHRYMA SPRING 25 collection, an ode to emotion and the fleeting beauty of the moment a tear is shed. Each garment in this 35-look collection is like a poem woven with threads of feelings that aims to embody the moods we feel and explore, that we release or repress before bursting into tears.
To keep the first day on track, the Sevillian firm Claro Couture will be back at MBFWMadrid for the 11th time. With its hallmark elegance, femininity, subtlety and provocative character, Claro Couture will be at the 80th edition of the event, creating great expectation among the audience and its well-known community of followers, which includes plenty of national celebrities.
To cap a spellbinding first day, Pedro del Hierro will celebrate its 50th anniversary in a unique, exclusive way that we will reveal over the coming days. The new collection will be surrounded by magic and shrouded in mystery until the show arrives to the catwalk.
MBFWMadrid, organised by IFEMA MADRID with the support from Madrid City Council, is backed by leading firms in the sector, such as Mercedes-Benz, L’Oréal Paris and Inditex, the main sponsors who are faithful to the event; Allianz, Iberia and MO, participating as sponsors; and Dorsia Clinicas, GHD, Udit-University of Design, Innovation and Technology, Comunidad de Madrid, Málaga de Moda participating jointly with the corporate identity of Diputación de Málaga, Junta de Castilla y León, Mar de Frades, Schweppes and Martin Miller’s Gin, as collaborators.
