Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid: 80 editions celebrating the best of Spanish fashion
Spain's most important catwalk event, MBFWMadrid, is holding its 80th edition from 12 to 16 September 2024, organised by IFEMA MADRID in collaboration with Madrid City Council. Hall 14.1 of the Recinto Ferial will host the presentations from Spain's most renowed designers for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. In addition to the events at IFEMA MADRID, the “shows in the city” will take place on 16 September in unique venues across the city. On the first day, Thursday, 12 September, designers Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Acromatyx, Simorra, Odette Álvarez, De la Cierva y Nicolás, Claro Couture, and Pedro del Hierro will take centre stage.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada will have the honour of kicking off the day—and, indeed, the new edition of MBFWMadrid. The renowned designer, celebrated globally for her vibrant, original creations, will once again grace the runway of MBFWMadrid, marking her 79th appearance, making her the most enduring designer in terms of presence at this prestigious event.
Meanwhile, Acromatyx, which debuted on the grand catwalk in February 2024, returns with a powerful statement of intent with a collection titled 006 Modern Poetry Spring 25. This minimalist, delicate offering reveals the interior details of the garments—seams, cuts, piping, and linings—on the outside, presenting pieces designed to be worn inside out or reversibly.
Next in line on the catwalk is the brand Simorra, which made its debut in September 2023 and is now participating for the third consecutive edition. The designs consistently aim to evoke the origins of their creation, with a strong Mediterranean influence evident throughout their collections.
Following Simorra, we have the Cantabrian designer Odette Álvarez showcasing for the eighth time at MBFWMadrid. Her collection for Summer 2025, titled INFINITA, is a tribute to the landscapes of her homeland—the beaches that trace the coastline of dramatic cliffs and serene coves, the majestic, soaring mountains, the cobblestone streets that hark back to another era, and the grand architecture of stately homes that greets you at every turn.
And then comes the highly anticipated debut of De la Cierva y Nicolás. Based in Murcia, the brand arrives at MBFWMadrid after showcasing its collections on various prêt-à-porter catwalks and exhibitions around the world. They present their collection LACHRYMA SPRING 25 as an ode to emotions, capturing the fleeting beauty that occurs at the instant when a tear wells up.
As the day draws to a close, the Seville-based brand Claro Couture returns to MBFWMadrid for its 11th edition. Known for their elegance, femininity, subtlety, and provocative edge that they consistently weave into their designs, Claro Couture is part of the first day of this 80th edition, creating significant anticipation among the audience and their highly regarded community of followers, which includes many prominent figures from the national scene.
As a dazzling finale to the first day, Pedro del Hierro will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a unique and exclusive proposal that will keep everyone guessing until the very last moment. A new collection will be presented, enveloped in magic and intrigue right up until the start of the catwalk show.
Following an opening filled with design and creativity at the 80th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the second day will feature prominent names such as Angel Schlesser, Isabel Sanchis, Hannibal Laguna, Berhanyer, JCPajares, Álvaro Calafat, and Malne. The catwalk show programme will take place from 11.30 am to 8.30 pm on Friday, 13 September.
First up, Angel Schlesser will kick off the day in Hall 14.1 of IFEMA MADRID, marking the MBFWMadrid runway debut of his creative designer, Alfonso Pérez. Hailing from Oviedo and a great expert in pattern making and understanding women's needs, he is an incredibly talented artist with a passion for painting and a mission to return to the brand's roots.
Later on, the haute couture brand Isabel Sanchis will fill the Mercedes-Benz hall with magic and artistry with its designs. With architecture as its foundation, the winner of the L’Oréal Paris Award for Best Collection in February 2023 will present a collection that is feminine, glamorous, and characterised by precise cuts, showcasing the female silhouette as the main focus.
Moments later, Hannibal Laguna will be the star name of the occasion. His participation in MBFWMadrid makes him one of the designers who is loyal to the most important catwalk in the country. Sheer fabrics, beautifully flowing garments, and spring-like colours are hallmarks of the designer's DNA, who has been based in Spain since he was 15, and this marks his thirty-third appearance at MBFWMadrid.
Meanwhile, the brand Berhanyer, which showcased its rebranding in the previous edition with a unique catwalk show that earned it the L’Oréal Paris Award for Best Collection, returns to MBFWMadrid with a new corporate identity and under the creative direction of Sergio de Lázaro.
The spotlight now shifts to JCPajares, which will participate for the eighth time at MBFWMadrid. JC Pajares will once again unleash his creativity and originality in the collection for this upcoming edition, just as he has in previous shows, but with the common thread of his roots throughout. Castilla-La Mancha has always been present in his catwalks. It is the designer's refuge, and it helps him to draw out the best in himself as an artist.
Additionally, Álvaro Calafat returns to MBFWMadrid after his debut in September 2022. A pioneering designer, yet always focused on reinterpreting traditions, the designer from Málaga is well known for creating the most eye-catching looks on the red carpets in our country.
Malne will close the day with a distinctive presentation, as is customary for the brand. Elegance, boldness, and sophistication will be the pillars upon which Paloma and Juanjo's designs are based. The most established professional duo in the fashion world at MBFWMadrid is once again committed to participating in this event, marking their twelfth appearance.
Dolores Cortés, Paloma Suárez, Fely Campo, Custo Barcelona, Yolancris, Lola Casademunt by Maite, and Michael Costello will showcase their collections on the final day of the prestigious MBFWMadrid catwalk. Sunday will be dedicated to emerging talents on the Allianz EGO catwalk at MBFWMadrid.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the most important fashion catwalk in Spain, will continue to dazzle on its third day with a stellar lineup of designers set to elevate the art of fashion to new heights.
First to take the stage will be the brand Dolores Cortés, opening the day with a collection of swimwear and accessories. Innovation and elegance intertwine to create pieces that celebrate femininity and freedom. These designs are characterised by a masterful use of colour and texture, offering a fresh and sophisticated proposal for the summer.
Paloma Suárez, known for her avant-garde, experimental style, will present a collection that challenges traditional fashion conventions. With a bold combination of materials and a focus on sustainability, Suárez continues to establish herself as one of the industry's most prominent young designers. Despite her youth, the Canary Islands native has participated in MBFWMadrid eleven times.
In third place, Fely Campo will bring her vision of timeless fashion to the catwalk with designs that stand out for their meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. Inspired by craftsmanship and traditional values, Campo creates pieces that pay homage to sophistication and classic beauty. Fely Campo has successfully built a universe characterised by an elegant, understated style and excellent tailoring. This is a universe that she has been sharing with attendees of her shows at MBFWMadrid since March 2022.
Meanwhile, Custo Barcelona will kick off the afternoon session, once again delighting with its signature use of colour and vibrant prints. Custo Dalmau's new collection fuses urban and cosmopolitan influences, creating unique garments that capture the energy and diversity of contemporary style. Custo Barcelona is one of the brands loyal to the project, as this will be the seventeenth time it has been showcased at MBFWMadrid.
Yolancris will make its debut at MBFWMadrid, presenting in Hall 14.1 of the IFEMA MADRID Recinto Ferial at 17:30 on Saturday with a collection grounded in the brand's core principles: craftsmanship and freedom.
Additionally, Lola Casademunt by Maite will bring a vision of cheerful and relaxed fashion with a collection that celebrates life and colour. With pieces that combine comfort and style, Casademunt offers an accessible and chic proposal that promises to captivate both young and adult audiences. The show is guaranteed to be spectacular, just as it has been in the last seven editions in which it has participated at MBFWMadrid.
Lastly, Michael Costello emerges as the standout revelation of this edition. Known for his stunning red-carpet dresses, he will close the day with a collection brimming with glamour and sophistication. His designs, which have dressed some of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry in the USA, showcase the luxury and timeless elegance that define his brand.
Emerging talent will take centre stage on Sunday at the Allianz EGO catwalk, featuring designers MAL Studio Custom Project, Anamingo, Karlo Módenes, Alejandre, Boltad, Arturo de la Rosa, XVStrange, H05, and Santamarta. These emerging talents will be the highlight of Sunday’s catwalk. Nine newly established brands are contenders for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Award, now in its 24th edition. Thanks to this recognition, the winning brand will showcase its collection at Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week. The invited international designer from the Czech catwalk will be Tomas Nemec. In addition, the day will begin with the presentation of the Allianz EGO Confidence in Fashion award, featuring the 15 emerging brands that will showcase and sell their creations in the Allianz EGO Showroom.
MAL Studio Custom Project, the winner of the Allianz EGO Confidence in Fashion award in February 2024, will kick off Sunday’s events with its collection "Axis Mundi," a personal manifesto of emotions and nostalgia from its creator, Michelle Lima. They will share a double catwalk show with Anamingo, which will present the collection "Ajuar," a project that delves into the memory of domestic spaces, offering an intimate look at the home as a silent witness to the experiences of those who inhabit it.
Meanwhile, Karlo Módenes will showcase his collection "Who is the Killer?" in his debut appearance on the catwalk. This proposal evokes the classic board game "Cluedo," presented as a ‘fashion show-happening’, featuring characters inspired by classic Hollywood films. In the same slot, Alejandre will also take to the catwalk with the collection "Core," which is inspired by the close relationship between an artist's work and personal life. It serves as a statement of individuality against the mainstream, often deconstructing traditional dress codes and reconstructing them with a unique and personal perspective.
Boltad, winner of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent award in September 2022, presents "Woltad," the name of a collection inspired by his imaginary country. This surreal nation places cultural diversity and personal expression at its core, showcasing “tribes” that coexist under the overarching culture of the land. In the same time slot, Arturo de la Rosa will unveil the key elements of his upcoming collection, "Children of Uncertainty," on stage. This deconstruction-construction of garments showcases the transformation of the familiar into something unexpected.
XVStrange is back, this time with "Mowande," the name of their new collection. The concept represents the artist's journey towards their work, seeking a connection with the source of inspiration and internal creativity to bring the envisioned piece into physical form. Next up will be H05. The new collection, "Visita," reflects a return to Grandma's house in search of the antidote that allows you to exit more slowly than you entered.
Finally, Santamarta will present "About Perception," a showcase of upcycling from a different perspective that pays attention to the tailoring and simplicity of each piece, generating minimal environmental impact. To close the day, we have Tomas Nemec. The international guest designer showcases his collection P/V25, inspired by the imagined setting of a nightspot in Prague, creating an ambience filled with the soft glow of dim table lamps, vintage wallpaper, and black-and-white photographs that decorate the walls
