Tomas Nemec at MBFWMadrid
About Tomas Nemec
Tomas Nemec began to devote himself to fashion already at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Uherské Hradiště. He is now a recent graduate of Prague's Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, a fashion and footwear design studio led by a designer and professor Liběna Rochová.
He drew attention to himself in the competition for young designers Van Graaf Junior Talent 2022, in which he won with a collection inspired by the film directed by Gaspar Noé “Lux Æterna”.
Tomas rarely works with abstract themes in his work. The sources of his inspiration are rather
specific, often based on, for example, cinematography. He then molds the clothes into the atmosphere you want
around a certain work he creates himself. When presenting his collections, he works with a performativity that he it gives the freedom to express one's own vision and thus place the garment in a wider context.

The FW25 collection is set in the fictitious environment of a nighttime Prague bar in an atmosphere of dimmed table lamps, old wallpapers and black and white photographs on the walls. The sounds of clinking glasses with the voices of visitors can be heard in the background, mixing with the notes of a piano played by an unknown musician.
The collection depicts a woman whose apartment is nearby and for her the bar is a place where she goes to hide from the outside world. However, he is not chatting with anyone there, he is sitting at the table with a glass of red wine and a lit cigarette. Sometimes he arrives at the bar on his way home, other times he comes in the middle of the night.
The collection is purely feminine, made from materials such as black corduroy, translucent chiffon and tulle or satin. Its color palette is based on the bar environment, with accents of green, red, purple or yellow appearing on a black base in various densities and translucencies. It includes coats, corsets, evening dresses and regular ready to wear pieces. The collection is complemented by shoes from designer Jaroslav Vich and jewelry by Magdalena Šťastníková.
