Maya Hansen at MBFWMadrid
About Maya Hanssen
Maya Hansen is a Spanish fashion designer who graduated with honours from the Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda in Madrid. Since her debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid in 2010, Maya Hansen has been able to define her own concept of femininity through the reinterpretation of the corset, the cornerstone of her collections.
Maya Hansen's success lies in using creativity to enhance a woman's silhouette. One of the brand's hallmarks is the combination of unconventional materials and techniques, as well as the union of different disciplines far removed from fashion design, which gives rise to unique pieces in each collection.
Celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Shakira, Kylie Jenner, Paris Hilton, Cindy Crawford, Nieves Álvarez, Nadja Auermann and Kate Upton have been ambassadors for Maya Hansen's creations.

We are facing a climate crisis and its effects are already being felt around the world. Heat waves like we have never experienced before, devastating floods, loss of biodiversity. Climate change is no longer a threat, but a reality of our daily lives.
The fashion industry contributes approximately 2.1 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions every year, equivalent to 4% of all global emissions. These are levels never seen before and with no sign of slowing down.
There is not a single corner of the world that can feel safe from the devastating consequences of climate change. We cannot go on like this... but we do.
We continue to over-produce, to use materials inefficiently, to consume far in excess of our needs.
Action is in our hands. Responsible consumption, changing purchasing habits, demanding responsibility from brands, recycling clothes, fabrics and materials.
Inspiration: Maya Hansen presents its autumn winter 2023 collection based on the circular economy and upcycling as a response to the advance of this phenomenon that affects the climate, the biodiversity of the planet and the health of all its inhabitants.
Collection: Maya Hansen, known for her work as a corset architect, proposes an exercise in recycling and reconversion of sports articles in which fashion becomes urban, close, powerful and with a clear sportswear influence.
Football, basketball, running or athletics, become protagonists as inspiration for a collection where both the colours and the concept suggest dynamism, strength and the purest streetstyle couture.
Technical fabrics and knitwear take centre stage in the construction of a collection that combines structured garments with other more loose and relaxed ones, creating modern silhouettes in which the diy concept is mixed with haute couture.
The sports brand Skechers collaborates with the footwear for the designer's collection.
Signature corsets: Corsets created from the deconstruction of sportswear and accessories that are reinvented within the Maya Hansen universe, will be the protagonists of this collection with a powerful and dynamic staging.
The Hansen imprint is perfectly identifiable with the language of upcycling as a common thread in a capsule collection that emanates freshness, dynamism and perfectly conveys the state-of-art of current fashion. A commitment to upcycling, craftsmanship, quality and aesthetics, to give life to new garments.
The collection arises with the intention of reconverting manufacturing leftovers and surplus stock into unique and unrepeatable garments with the language of the corset as a sign of identity, combining social awareness with innovation.
