On the second day, experts from the electrical and electronics sector shared the latest trends in energy, security and digitalisation.

MATELEC, the International Trade Fair for the Electrical and Electronics Industry, brought its second day to a close with an outstanding programme of high-level speeches, presentations and round tables featuring sector leaders. The fair, which is held at the same time as Semana Internacional de la Construcción (International Construction Week) - CONSTRUTEC, VETECO, SMART DOORS and PISCIMAD -, will continue until Friday, 8 November in halls 4, 6 and 8 of IFEMA MADRID.

Among the highlights of the day was a presentation by HT Instruments in which Jordi Planas, the company's sales technician, explained the different techniques and procedures for carrying out safety and efficiency measurements in solar photovoltaic installations. He highlighted the importance of verifying the insulation of the modules, the need to earth them to avoid risks in the event of leakage, measure the short-circuit current, ensure the correct positive or negative polarity of the connectors, control the temperature of the panels and check the open circuit voltage. Finally, Planas reiterated the need for quality teams and continuous training.

On the other hand, the company IMQ IBERICA S.L.U.  presented the requirements of the EMC Directive for electronic equipment both in general and explaining the regulatory structure, the different tests that apply and the main design problems. Alberto Sánchez, head of the EMC Electromagnetic Compatibility area of the company, specialised in electrical safety tests, electromagnetic compatibility, climatic tests and performance and useful life tests, gave an overview of the current regulations and the different existing tests, such as those focused on radiated and conducted emissions or electrostatic discharge tests.

Throughout the day, Matelec award finalists made presentations at their stands dedicated to their projects and innovative solutions for the sector. This is the case for Orbis Tecnología Eléctrica, Finder Eléctrica, Jung Electro Ibérica, Circutor and Zennio

Other round table and speeches were also held, such as ‘Active energy management: The evolution of smart homes’ and ‘Client websites and digital tools’’ by Grupo Elektra; ‘Training and the installation collective for Installers 2.0; Boosting client sales’ by ETIM; ‘Challenges of the installation company in the electrification of the economy’ and ‘are you ready for the 2G switch-off?’ by Wireless Logic S.L which presented in the session the key points of a switch-off which will affect millions of devices and how to prepare an appropriate migration plan.
