Promoted by the Spanish Association of Publishers Guilds and hosted by IFEMA MADRID, the 43rd International Book Fair is the largest business platform in Spain dedicated to Spanish-language publishing.

Madrid is preparing to meet with the publishing sector once again with the arrival of LIBER 2025, the International Book Fair. Promoted by the Spanish Association of Publishers Guilds (FGEE, standing for Federación de Gremios de Editores de España) and hosted by IFEMA MADRID, the event will take place from 7 to 9 October in Hall 14.1. With a strong reputation as a leading platform in the industry, LIBER returns with the goal of driving the publishing business forward, fostering knowledge exchange, and strengthening professional connections on a global scale.

Over the course of three days, LIBER will bring together a diverse range of publishing companies, distributors, literary agents, suppliers, professional associations, and service companies, offering a comprehensive view of the current publishing landscape. It will serve as a hub for authors, booksellers, illustrators, and other industry professionals, making it a focal point for the sector.

Chile, this year’s Guest of Honour, will be featured prominently, providing an opportunity to strengthen both commercial and cultural ties. The country will have a special showcase at the fair to promote and highlight Chilean publishing in Spain.

As always, LIBER will host a variety of professional and cultural activities, along with conferences, where industry associations, organisations, and institutions will engage in discussions on the most relevant sector issues. Special focus will be given to topics such as sustainability, promoting reading, and addressing the challenges faced by booksellers, librarians, and educators, among others. This year, a new addition is the Ágora space, located within the pavilion, where exhibitors will have the opportunity to present products, services, or other topics of interest.

Additionally, as in previous editions, the FGEE is developing a range of programmes aimed at professionals from key geographical regions of particular interest to the companies participating in LIBER.  These include the Buyers Programme, organised in collaboration with Economic &Trade Offices of Spain and ICEX Trade and Investment. This programme focuses on distributors, booksellers, and librarians, as well as international buyers of Spanish-language books. Another initiative is the Priority Interest Prescribers Programme, run in collaboration with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), inviting a select group of professionals with decision-making or purchasing power over Spanish-language books to attend the fair.

Hosted by IFEMA MADRID and promoted by the Spanish Association of Publishers Guilds, LIBER 2025 is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, the Community of Madrid, Madrid City Council, and the Spanish Copyright Licensing Agency (CEDRO). It also benefits from the collaboration of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Madrid Publishers Association.
