LIBER 2023 will be held from 4 to 6 October in Madrid with high expectations
Organized by IFEMA MADRID and promoted by the Spanish Federation of Publishers' Guilds, the 41st edition of LIBER is emerging as the largest business platform in our country dedicated to Spanish-language publishing.
IFEMA MADRID and the Spanish Federation of Publishers' Guilds (FGEE) gather the publishing sector at the 41 edición de of LIBER, which, faithful to its appointment in Madrid in odd-numbered years, is once again shaping up to be the largest business platform in our country dedicated to Spanish-language publishing and one of the main and most solid references in the Spanish-language publishing field. Everything points to LIBER 2023 holding a powerful and strategic edition this year, in line with the upward trend that has been drawing the turnover of the sector in our country since 2021, and with the growth forecasts of the Latin American market, key to boosting exports.
The International Book Fair, which will be held from 4 to 6 October 2023 (Wednesday to Friday) in pavilion 14.0 of the Recinto Ferial of Madrid, opens up a scenario of great opportunities to promote the publishing business in its different perspectives and sectors, with special attention to digital content, new publishers, self-publishing and intellectual property. The fair is specially designed to bring together a complete range of publishing companies and entities, distributors, literary agents, multimedia, suppliers, professional associations, service companies, etc. A complete showcase which will offer the most extensive overview of current publishing production, becoming, over three days of activity, a focus of professional attraction for authors, booksellers, illustrators and other actors in the sector.
In addition, and new this year, the fair will be held in a hybrid form and will incorporate the digital tool LIBER LiveConnect, an online platform that will be active for a year, extending the scope of the fair in time and space, generating content and complementing communication and networking beyond the days on which LIBER is held.
As in previous years, the FGEE is working on the implementation of different programmes aimed at professionals from other geographic areas of special interest to the companies participating in LIBER. These include the Buyers’ Programme, organised in collaboration with the Economic and Commercial Offices of Spain and of ICEX Spain Exports and investments, based on distributors, booksellers and librarians, as well as buyers of Spanish books from different countries. Also the Opinion Leaders of Priority Interest Programme, carried out in collaboration with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), through which a selection of book professionals with the capacity to lead opinion, decide on and/or purchase Spanish books are invited to the fair.
The LIBER organisation team is also programming an extensive professional and cultural agenda of activities and workshops. The different associations, bodies and institutions linked to the publishing industry with debate and analyse the most important topics related to the current sector, with particular attention being paid to topics related to sustainability and the environment, encouraging reading, as well as the problems of booksellers and librarians, and teaching, among others.
