The 6 finalists have been selected by an expert jury from amongst more than 50 national and international participants. The winners will win up to 10,000 euros in cash and in-kind prizes from the 19 partners who have taken up the challenge. Global Mobility Call, the leading event on sustainable mobility, organised by IFEMA MADRID and Smobhub, is to be held at the Madrid Trade Fair Centre from 19 to 21 November.
Global Mobility Call, the leading event on sustainable mobility, organised by IFEMA MADRID and Smobhub, has already established the six startups that are to put forward their solutions in the final of the Global Mobility Call and Las Rozas Innova Mobility to Work Challenge. The companies have been selected from a total of 54 national and international proposals, to compete for the Best Idea Award, valued at €5,000, and the Best Startup, which will receive €10,000 to develop a pilot in Las Rozas.
The Sustainable Mobility to Work Challenge of Las Rozas Innova and Global Mobility Call is the second innovation challenge launched in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, It sets out to identify, make visible, reward and test solutions that help reduce polluting emissions from commuting, not only to the workplace, but also during the working day.
"In Las Rozas, through open innovation initiatives such as the Mobility to Work Challenge, we pinpoint technological solutions that are scalable to other cities around the world. We also lend visibility and support to entrepreneurs to develop their innovative projects, as we firmly believe in the role of technology in solving people's needs", says the chairman of Las Rozas Innova and mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz.
As far as Félix Pérez-Fajardo, the sales manager of Global Mobility Call, is concerned, "this challenge is an opportunity for us to explore and discover mobility solutions that not only improve people's quality of life, but which also make cities more sustainable, efficient and connected. Here at Global Mobility Call, in collaboration with Las Rozas Innova, we believe that innovation in mobility is essential in order to take on the urban and business challenges of the future".
The startups selected
A total of 3 startups and 3 projects at the idea stage will put forward their solutions; the former are setting out to develop a pilot in the city and the latter to obtain funding which will enable them to continue developing their project.
In the startup category, the finalists were:
- LetmePark: A startup that uses machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide users with strategic parking spots, offering a fully automated, customised solution.
- Hoop Carpool: A startup committed to optimising vehicle occupancy. It enables users to save time, money and emissions by connecting commuters to the same places so that they can share cars with each other.
- Mobilit: A startup that implements Smart Mobility plans and technological solutions for transport administrations, cities, companies and operators to materialise and carry out their Smart Mobility and transport digitisation strategies.
The finalists in the "idea" category were:
- IntiMob: An intelligent routing system for solar-powered public transport vehicles, such as buses, which optimises their routes by taking into account solar energy capture, traffic conditions and weather data. The system uses artificial intelligence and real-time data to provide routes that maximise the efficiency of the solar panels and minimise travel times.
- Meep: A multimodal mobility app designed for company employees to move around in a sustainable way. It provides a points programme that can be redeemed for various prizes. The technology consists of an application with maps and routes that help people get around in sustainable fashion.
- Nasta: A gamified solution providing information on the impact of the carbon footprint of each trip through GPS. It allows the mode of transport to be tracked and an understanding of daily travel habits
The winning idea and startup will be able to join the Las Rozas Innova Hub, the space for entrepreneurship and consolidation of technology-based startups of Las Rozas City Council, enjoying all the services, training, access to the network of experts and visibility in social media. They will also be given the chance to carry out a pilot project in Las Rozas, depending on the level of maturity and fit of the winning startup's solution in the city.
What's more, Global Mobility Call will award the winning companies in the two challenge categories (idea and startup) the chance to make a presentation to put forward their project at the next edition of the GMC, as the winners of the previous year's challenge. The winner of the "Startup" category will also be able to have a stand in the dedicated startup area in 2025.
