Renfe, a leader in sustainable transportation and digital transformation in Spain, will participate as a Global Partner in the third edition of Global Mobility Call, organized by IFEMA MADRID and Smobhub, from November 19 to 21. Once again, Renfe will showcase its leadership in integrating innovative technologies and services to promote sustainable, intermodal, and accessible mobility in line with ESG principles and a customer-centered approach.

Renfe will have its own stand (3C02) in the area designated for the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda. The space’s design revolves around the concepts of sustainability, digitalization, intermodality, and innovation.

Sonia Araujo, General Director of Innovation, Sustainability, and Digital Transformation, emphasizes what Renfe expects from this event, stating: “This forum provides us the opportunity to demonstrate that Renfe, a leader in sustainable transportation, relies on technology and innovation to address future challenges and to be a key player in sustainable, multimodal, connected, and accessible mobility. Global Mobility Call also allows us to engage with the entire ecosystem of this new mobility, fostering new forms of collaboration.”

Renfe at the Global Mobility Call 2024 Roundtables

During the event, Renfe will lead several key roundtables addressing major challenges and opportunities in sustainable mobility and the implementation of ESG criteria in the transportation sector. On November 19, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Sergio Bueno, Deputy General Director for Strategy and Institutional Relations at Renfe, will participate in the roundtable “Critical Infrastructure for Integrated Mobility.” This session will analyze the crucial role of the public sector and state-owned companies in developing critical infrastructure to meet new needs for sustainable, secure, and connected mobility.

That same day, from 11:40 AM to 12:20 PM, Sonia Araujo will join the roundtable “Intermodality: Collective, Accessible, and Sustainable Mobility,” moderated by May López, Director of Development at Empresas por la Movilidad Sostenible. The panel will also include Esther Mateo, General Director of Safety, Processes, and Corporate Systems at Adif, Antonio Cendrero, CEO of Arriva, and other experts. Discussions will focus on sustainability (environmental and social, based on ESG criteria), interoperability enabled by technology, the importance of data, connectivity between cities and regional integration, and placing citizens at the center of the ecosystem, demanding accessible mobility and diverse transportation options.

On November 21, from 1:20 PM to 2:00 PM, the second roundtable, “From Sustainability to ESG Focus: Companies and the CSRD Directive,” will be moderated by Adrián Fernández, Director of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency at Renfe. This session will address the challenges posed by the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), particularly for high-impact sectors like transportation. Panelists will include Borja López López, Corporate Manager of Quality, Innovation, and CSR at Avanza, alongside other professionals from leading companies in the sector.

Renfe will also participate in additional sessions, expanding its presence at the forum. On November 20, from 4:40 PM to 5:20 PM, Adrián Fernández will take part in the roundtable “Roadmap to Net Zero Emissions Transport,” organized by Sistem Group. Additionally, that same day, at 4:20 PM, Julián Mata, Business Development Director at Renfe Mercancías, will moderate the roundtable “The Transformation of Strategic Intermodal Logistics Hubs,” organized by Puertos del Estado, with Indra also participating. This session will explore how these hubs, empowered by advanced technologies and digitalization, improve connectivity, reduce environmental impact, and enhance operational efficiency.

With advanced intermodality solutions and a new focus on artificial intelligence and digital technology, Renfe continues to lead the way towards more accessible, connected, and environmentally friendly mobility in Spain and Europe.
