Castilla y León has increased by 90% the area dedicated to organic production in the last five years, promoting Tierra de Sabor organic products.
The autonomous community of Castilla y León has experienced a notable growth in the area under organic production, with an increase of more than 90% in the last five years, which means the incorporation of 54,022.29 new hectares.
This increase has been reflected in all provinces, although Salamanca stands out as the province with the highest growth in certified surface area in the last year. However, Valladolid and Zamora are still the provinces with the largest areas dedicated to organic production, accounting for 46.12% of the total in Castilla y León, which in 2023 reached 113,805.49 hectares.
Agricultural area and operators increased
This growth is not only limited to the agricultural area, but has also increased the number of operators in the region to over 2,100 today.
In terms of crops, organic nut production has grown by more than 1,000 hectares in the last five years, while the area dedicated to vegetables and tubers has increased by more than 550 hectares, and organic fruit plantations by 20 hectares, consolidating the sector in Castilla y León.
This growth has boosted the Tierra de Sabor offer, which currently has more than 160 organic products, including oils, nuts and vegetables, among others.
