BRITE SOLAR, tailor-made solutions for agriculture
The company, one of the pioneers of the agrovoltaic market, shows at Fruit Attraction, its latest agrovoltaic solutions, both for protected crops (greenhouses) and outdoor crops.
Brite Solar is an expert in the field of agrivoltaic solutions for both protected crops (greenhouses) and outdoor crops. Agrivoltaics refers to the combined use of land for the simultaneous production of crops and solar energy, thus increasing land productivity and promoting the energy transition without sacrificing agricultural land for its intended purpose. But it goes much further. In greenhouses, the integration of photovoltaic panels on the roof can help to cover the often high energy demand of the installation, for example for lighting, heating and cooling.
Outdoor crops
In outdoor crops, on the other hand, agricultural covers can help farmers protect their crops from inclement weather (storms, hail, heat waves); they can act as water harvesting systems for irrigation; they can increase irrigation efficiency through better control of evapotranspiration; and they can even protect crop health, as there is often a direct link between crop diseases and weather conditions.
The energy generated can be used on-farm (e.g. to run cold stores and produce processing facilities), offered to external buyers and/or fed into the electricity grid, depending on the particular situation of each farm. Agri-voltaics can be combined with a wide variety of crops in different climates, from fruits and vegetables to fruits and vegetables. h Brite is one of the pioneers in the agri-voltaic market, designing and producing a wide range of specialised semi-transparent PV modules specifically for this application. Putting the farmer first, Brite is dedicated to keeping agricultural productivity as high as possible, protecting crops from adversity and offering a new source of income through energy generation that will increase farmers' financial security. Our use of semi-transparent modules is a consequence of this; crops should receive as much light as they need to grow, and the excess should be used for electricity production, not the other way around. As each crop has its own needs and each region has its own climatic characteristics, farmers often have different needs that cannot be met by a one-size-fits-all approach.
This is why Brite can manufacture tailor-made panels, for example with different levels of transparency, to offer each farmer the solution that best suits his or her needs. And in addition to panels, through a network of specialised partners we can offer complete turnkey solutions for greenhouse construction, open field panel mounting structures adaptable to the actual farm situation, PV system design and anything else a farmer considering an agrovoltaic project might need.
