Republic of Congo to highlight its vast natural treasures and sustainable tourism at FITUR
Marie-France Lydie Hélène Pongault, Minister of Cultural Industry, Tourism, Arts and Leisure of the Republic of Congo, explains that this country will highlight at the next edition of FITUR “its vast natural treasures, in particular its internationally renowned national parks”; as well as “initiatives in favour of sustainable tourism and the protection of wildlife, unique experiences of elephant safaris and sport fishing for Mbenga tiger fish in the majestic Congo River.”
Congo will be highlighting its vast natural treasures at the forthcoming edition of FITUR in January, in particular its internationally renowned national parks, notably Odzala-Kokoua and Nouabalé-Ndoki, two rare areas that are home to exceptional biodiversity, explains Marie-France Lydie Hélène Pongault. The country's Minister of Cultural Industry, Tourism, Arts and Leisure says they will also be presenting “initiatives in favour of sustainable tourism and wildlife protection, unique elephant safari experiences and sport fishing for Mbenga tiger fish in our majestic Congo River.”
In addition, emphasis will be placed on “the development of ecotourism, in particular the development of the forests of the Congo Basin, the second largest massif in the world in a single block and one of the planet’s true lungs, and on its cultural tourism, with the promotion of the country’s rich cultural and artistic diversity.”
The participation of the Republic of Congo or Congo Brazzaville in FITUR 2025 represents "a strategic opportunity to strengthen the international visibility of our tourism assets, attract investors and establish partnerships with international tourism agencies and operators, "the minister points out. FITUR will position Congo "as an emerging destination for sustainable and ecotourism in Central Africa." It will also "reinforce our efforts to create a real economic dynamic around tourism, at the same time as consolidating our commitment to protecting the environment and promoting Congolese culture on the world stage."
