FITUR Lingua 2025 to highlight the promising future of language tourism

Organised by FITUR and FEDELE, the section will highlight the importance of language as a cultural, educational and economic driver, with a focus on the challenges and trends in language tourism.

FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair taking place from 22 to 26 January at IFEMA MADRID, will be opening its doors to language tourism with the new edition of FITUR Lingua. This space, organised in collaboration with FEDELE (Spanish Federation of Schools of Spanish as a Foreign Language), will bring together industry professionals, institutions and companies with the aim of highlighting the language as a driving force for cultural, educational and economic development.

Consolidated since its creation in 2021, FITUR Lingua will be addressing the strategic pillars for the evolution of this constantly growing sector on Wednesday 22 January, under the slogan 'Language as a tourism asset: challenges and trends' There will also be a networking area for FEDELE associated centres, which will be able to interact with agents from different tourist segments interested in language tourism.

FITUR Lingua: programme preview

The first block 'Fundamentals of the Sector: Research and Database for Language Tourism' will be presenting the importance of reliable data and sectoral studies, including an analysis of the preliminary FEDELE 2024 report. They will also discuss how to turn challenges, such as seasonality and geopolitics, into opportunities for innovation and growth in 'Challenges of Language Tourism: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities for Growth'. Finally, the last block, 'Towards an Institutional Strategy: Role of Public Policies and International Collaboration', will underline the need for public policies and international cooperation for a sustainable development of language tourism.
