Mar Sánchez Villalta: "FITUR 2025 will be a great showcase for Mauritius in the Spanish market".
Mar Sanchez Villalta, representative of the Mauritius Tourist Board, explains in the following interview that the future of the Mauritian tourism industry is looking bright, with a forecast of 1.5 million tourists by 2025, and points out that in 2025 they will prioritise cultural visits, wellness breaks, sustainable tourism and business and leisure travel. He also affirms that the participation of Mauritius in FITUR is always a success and next January's edition will be "a great showcase for the destination in the Spanish market".
Can you summarise the main tourism proposals that your country will be presenting at FITUR 2025?
The future of the Mauritian tourism industry is looking bright. Our forecast for the coming year is positive and we expect tourist arrivals to increase to over 1.5 million in 2025. Travellers are opting for longer stays because of all the destination has to offer, including more authentic and less traditional experiences than previous years' itineraries. In 2025 we will prioritise cultural visits, wellness breaks, sustainable tourism and business and leisure travel.
How will you position the destination over the next year?
In 2025, we aim to maintain this upward trend by positioning Mauritius as a destination where travellers can connect with the soul of the destination and immerse themselves in the island's diverse offerings. Mauritius is a destination that embraces all energies.
Mauritius is big enough for extraordinary adventures and small enough to do everything in one holiday. Come and visit us and tour our National Parks with a local guide, climb mountains, enjoy the unique cuisine of each island community or relax and pause for a sunrise yoga session.
Our diverse and inclusive island is the perfect destination for authentic experiences and unique and unforgettable memories. We are ready to welcome you and show you why life in Mauritius is unique.
In 2025, we will be focusing on offering greener products and services, taking into account the added value they bring to the environment. Mauritius is a destination that appeals to all types of travellers, and we aim to further reinforce this belief through multiple events and targeted B2B and B2C campaigns to position Mauritius as the perfect getaway destination.
What will your participation at FITUR 2025 mean for your country?
Mauritius has been present in FITUR for more than 35 years and it is a great promotion of the destination in the Spanish market. It’s always successful.
