The FiturNext Observatory, in alliance with Aqualia, reference brand in water management for all uses (urban, industrial and agricultural), has announced the agenda for its next edition dedicated to how tourism can contribute to the sustainable management of food. From 22 to 25 January, within the framework of FITUR, FiturNext is organising a programme of talks, round tables and dialogues with experts from the sector.

The first confirmed participants in the programme

There are many professionals who contribute to food sustainability through tourism and FiturNext will bring together some of them throughout the programme. Among them, the following stand out: Rosa Nordfeldt, Sustainability Director of Air Europa, Marie Lindström, Country Director of Too Good To Go, Mayte Alonso Garcia de Vinuesa Directorate General of Tourism of Extremadura, Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports and João Barroso, Director of Sustainability and R&D of Vinos de Alentejo.

Each of them is committed to promoting a tourism industry that is conscious and responsible for the planet and people. In particular, Nordfeldt is in charge of implementing Air Europa's strategic plan for sustainability and the environment, while Lindström is the general manager in Spain of the world's largest platform to fight food waste, Too Good To Go, winner of the FiturNext 2025 challenge. Alonso is an expert in the promotion of Extremadura's cultural, natural and gastronomic heritage and Barroso specialises in sustainable viticulture.

Food sustainability initiatives at the centre

As every year, the agenda of talks, debates and presentations will be accompanied by one of the highlights of the programme: the awards ceremony to the winning initiatives of the 2025 Challenge and the special mention to the finalists. Rutas Gastronómicas Sostenibles de Extremadura, promoted by the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sport of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Hurtigruten Cruises and Too Good To Go are the award-winning projects of this edition for their contribution to food sustainability in the sector.
