Belén López

Belén López

Biography

Tarragona, 1986. Winner of the "Desplante" Award at the Festival de Cante de las Minas de La Unión in 2016 and the National Flamenco Award "Mario Maya" in 2004.

With no artistic background in her family, Belén López shows from a very young age a great sensitivity for the show and a boundless passion for flamenco. At the age of five she performed in a tribute to Carmen Amaya during the Diada de Sant Jordi, in front of historical dance figures such as Antonio Ruiz Soler and Pilar López. Three years later, Ángel Corella invited her to take part in a tribute to UNICEF at the Teatro Madrid. Shortly afterwards, she moved to the capital to study at the Madrid Dance Conservatory. Since then, her career has been unstoppable.

For four seasons, from 2001 to 2005, she was prima ballerina at the Arena di Verona in the operas Carmen and El Trovatore, directed by Franco Zeffirelli. She is also prima ballerina of the company La Corrala de La Danza, directed by Il Camborio, and for months she is the main figure of the Corral de la Morería in Madrid. In 2004 she won the Premio Nacional de Flamenco Mario Maya, formed her own company and directed major productions such as "Atrapados por el Arte", "Cuando Amanece" and "A mi Manera", performing all over Europe. In 2005 she was awarded as a Revelation Artist by the Corral de la Pacheca and in 2016 she received the Desplante Award of the Festival de Cante de las Minas de La Unión.
