Atecyr highlights the role technicians play in the quality of life in buildings
Julio Cano Guillamón, President of Atecyr Zona Centro, highlights the importance of strategies to improve indoor air quality in a conference organised by the Asociación Técnica Española de Climatización y Refrigeración (Spanish HVAC Technical Association), in which various experts highlighted the role of technicians and the great contribution of this sector in achieving safety, health, efficiency, well-being and quality of life inside buildings.
Atecyr Zona Centro organised a conference on strategies for improving indoor air quality to discuss the best strategies currently available for achieving optimum levels of indoor air quality.
At the meeting, experts showed that the indoor air quality conditions of people in buildings are related to the concentration of pollutants, both outdoors and indoors. Indoor pollutants depend on the emissions of the building's own materials, its occupants and the existing environmental pollution, which is why it is essential to ensure the efficiency of mechanical ventilation and the filtration and purification mechanisms of the thermal installation.
During the conference, participants discussed the new values and assessment methods proposed by the European Committee for Standardisation (Standard EN 16798) and the differences with the current legislation contained in the RITE to determine the necessary external ventilation flow rates and the relative importance of each variable. The best or worst flexibility and operability of the different HVAC systems to adapt to emergency situations such as those caused by an epidemic or pandemic was also discussed.
