David Díaz: Technology and sustainability are key factors in the development of new Daikin products

Daikin, a company specialising in air conditioning solutions, presents Daikin Altherma 4 Silent, its first range of residential aerothermal units with R-290 (propane) refrigerant designed for single-family homes. These units offer exceptional performance, providing hot water up to 75°C and operating even at exterior temperatures reaching -28°C. Here, David Díaz, Heating Product Manager at Daikin, explains the importance of this new range
How important is technology and sustainability for Daikin?
Technology and sustainability are key factors in the development of new Daikin products. A prime example of this is the latest-generation Daikin Altherma 4: Daikin Altherma 4 Silent. This latest-generation air-to-water aerothermal system incorporates several innovations that place it at the forefront of the market.
How would you summarise the innovations that Daikin Altherma 4 Silent offers the industry?
In terms of advanced technology, Daikin Altherma 4 Silent uses R-290 (propane) refrigerant, which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) close to zero, significantly reducing environmental impact. What’s more, this system is highly energy efficient, with an A+++ rating for heating and up to A+ for domestic hot water, ensuring low energy consumption and lower running costs. Its performance is exceptional, capable of providing hot water up to 75°C and operating in extreme conditions with exterior temperatures reaching -28°C, ensuring year-round comfort.
What does it offer in terms of emissions reduction and safety?
This unit is a perfect alternative to a traditional boiler, while helping reduce carbon emissions. Safety is also a priority in its design, with more than 15 additional components dedicated exclusively to safety, such as gas separators and anti-freeze valves, making it one of the safest units on the market.
Any other innovative features?
Another great innovative feature is its silent operation, reaching only 28 dBA at a distance of 3 metres, greatly improving user comfort. The new, intuitive user interface and advanced connectivity allow remote configuration using the Daikin Onecta app, making it easy to control and manage the system. The ergonomic design of the printed circuit board and the factory-mounted accessories also simplify the installation and operation of the equipment.
