Unique pieces for avid collectors at ANTIK Almoneda
Five garments worn by Freddie Mercury will be among the treasures exhibited at the fair
It's all systems go for yet another edition of ANTIK Almoneda, a fair organised by IFEMA MADRID and a unique opportunity to dive into the world of collecting to uncover some real historical jewels. From 6 to 14 April, entering Hall 3 at the Recinto Ferial will be the start of an unforgettable journey into the past through thousands of objects from different eras. That's because there will be more than 80 traders, antique dealers and gallery owners at ANTIK Almoneda displaying a magnificent variety of unusual objects to suit all tastes and pockets.
One of these is the Adria Codina Art Gallery, which will fascinate visitors to the fair by showing five unique garments worn by singer Freddie Mercury during Queen concerts between 1982 and 1985. Most of them, on display for everyone at ANTIK Almoneda to see, were hand painted and designed to wear on tours, album covers and at other events attended by the singer. The collection includes four tank tops and a jumpsuit with arrows running over the costume.
Collector and antiquarian Adriá Codina Ferrer's stand will treat visitors to a Christmas greeting dated 1984 from Queen, signed by its members, and a monogrammed handkerchief that belonged to Freddie Mercury, one of a set of objects from the cocktail bar at his Garden Lodge residence. There will also be two unique photographs of the singer taken at different times of his life.
Other exhibitors like Elpienna Antiquities will be back with attractive objects for collectors ranging from typewriters and sewing machines to gramophones, automatons, office supplies, scientific instruments and a wide variety of decorative objects. If you fancy a Fitch typewriter no. 1 from 1888 or a restored JASO no. 3 barber's chair dated 1940 you will find what you are looking for among the items on sale at the fair.
Miguel Cebrián Antiquities will bring a long a spectacular handmade naval model from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, among other exclusive pieces.
Other participating antique dealers with delightful objects to sell will be Antiquities Nautilus, Antiquities Plana, Antiquo Neton—Del Val, Editions Historical Sculpture, and Valenti Agut—Porrera.
This edition of the ANTIK Almoneda fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID from 6 to 14 April, will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see thousands of unique objects, clothes, jewellery and works of art. Special pieces of different styles, periods and origins will be available to the general public from 11.30 to 20.30.
